Proper surface preparation is the single most important step for a strong, lasting bond. Follow these three steps before applying any piece.
💡
Pro tip
Taking 2 extra minutes to prepare your surface correctly will give you a bond that lasts for years. Skipping this step is the most common cause of adhesion issues.
1
Clean the surface
Wipe the surface thoroughly with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove all dust, grease, and debris. Pay particular attention to furniture that may have polish, wax, or cleaning product residue — these will prevent the adhesive from bonding correctly.
2
Dry completely
Allow the surface to dry completely before applying. The surface must be bone dry. Do not apply immediately after cleaning with a wet cloth.
3
Check surface compatibility
Smooth, painted, lacquered, or varnished surfaces give the best results. Rough, porous, or powder-coated surfaces may need supplementary adhesive — see the full guide PDF above for the compatibility table.
